Subject:Oklacon Preregistration Ends Oct 1!
Security:Public
Mood: cheerful

It's hard to believe the time passes so quickly, but as October creeps steadily closer, the world's largest outdoor furry convention, also the most affordable out there, is just around the corner in the state next door! Online registration ends October 1 -- http://oklacon.com/

Hosted in a gorgeous canyon in Roman Nose State Park in Oklahoma, Oklacon offers a refreshing alternative to hotel-based furry conventions. With plenty of outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, stargazing, and outdoor games, we're quite a change of place to the same-ol', same-ol' experience of most furry cons. If the warm glow of a crackling campfire set under the dark, starry skies sounds like your idea of a great weekend, then we're just what you're looking for. :)

We also have a fully-fledged Dealer's Den and Artist Alley which offer everything from fursuiting studios to comic/book distributors to professional artists. Our Guests of Honor Kyell Gold and Ugly Little Monster have some awesome stuff in store for you. This year's theme pays homage to movie monsters from the '50's and '60's, most of which were anthros, so it's time to find those childhood toy rayguns and join us for a great time rampaging in the great outdoors!

If you've heard about us before but have never taken the plunge, make this year your first! Cabins and lodge rooms are sold out, but we still have motel rooms, tent spaces, and FREE A-Frame sleeping bunks still open for the taking. We attract furs mostly from KS, OK, TX, CO, NM, AR, MO, and LA, but we have those as far away as Germany and Wales attend.

We would ESPECIALLY love to welcome our Colorado neighbor-furs. Our convention is in the northwest part of Oklahoma, within reasonable driving distance. Quite a few furs come down from CO itself, so finding a ride shouldn't be too hard! Feel free to use our rideshare forum or our "Map of Who's Coming" to help identify people to share costs with, and join us! We also have a group discount available, allowing one fur to come absolutely free when three who haven't attended before preregister -- see the website for details. We would love to find other visual or performing artists from your community to add to our panel selection at this year's convention -- if you know anyone who might be interested, please have them drop us a line to registration [at] oklacon |dot| com :)

Hello Lil Furs and FurFriends,

I'm Sylvirin, mostly known as Syn. Really hope I'm not breaking any rules or disturbing people on here. I wanted to say hello. I am recently eighteen but have been interested in furries since I was twelve. I've tried making my own fursuits, which usually ended up in a failure of fur that is now put with LARP things or blankets.

If you want to get to know me, or help introduce me to the Colorado community of Furs, please do!
Sylvirin_Midlight@yahoo.com....

At the moment I am in Centennial/Aurora Colorado, but I am soon to move to Fort Collins in August to start my freshman year at Colorado State. If you go there, please halp!

Thank you all, and stay fluffy.
-Syn

Hey, my friends told me to post on Colofurs for help. Anyways, I'm a furry in Fort Collins who's having a hard time finding a place to stay. I don't have an issue with paying rent, but its always a living condition with the people I live with. I'm just tired of moving around and not having a secure place to live. I wish some fur would help me out and offer me a place to stay. My name is Rezmatez the Cabbit and I just need a break while I build up my future. my FA is here. http://www.furaffinity.net/user/rezmatez/ Thank you all for reading and understanding.

I need some advice over a social problem. Mostly it is the problem that came up when we came back from Texas. It isn't really a problem I want to talk on the board, and so I would request that you IM me or message me on this. It is more that I would like some discretion if you please.

I was walking down an aile at my work (Wal-mart) and one of my co-workers, she out of the blue just said, "Hey, i think with the way you walk you should have some kind of cat tail," she was laughing about it. She says I'm like a cat, that I am able to move around quickly like a cat, lol....I'm surprised with that....does anyone else have that happen to you?

This community is not run by the same people that run RMFC.

I cannot do anything about con issues and this community is NOT place to air your grievance with con goers and staff members of the con.

That would be best taken up with con staff.

Thank you.

Haven't tried this before, but what the hell, it's worth a shot.

I'm gonna be in the Delta, Colorado area for about a week, starting Wednesday through Tuesday next week (7-28 through 8/3) for my stepfather's funeral. There's a damned good chance that I'm going to need to escape the whole family thing for a while, and was wondering if anyone in the area wanted to spend some time hanging out?

Hay Colofurs! How're you all doing today?

My roommates have moved out and I have this biiig townhouse all to myself and my one roommate, and I thought it would be cool if I could find a roommate who shares my interest in the fandom. I'm a 21-year-old lesbian and a student at UCD. The townhouse is in Aurora (Hampden and Chambers), with close access to amenities and RTD and all that jazz. It's a decent neighborhood, safe, quiet but with a bunch of kids around. It'll be available after Christmas.

Your half of the rent would be $450, unless we get another roommate and then it'll be $300. We're working on getting it furnished (we're notably lacking decent couches and a kitchen table, lol) and your room will not be furnished, but you can fix it up to your liking - even paint it, as long as we okay the color with our super-chill landlord. You'd have your own bathroom downstairs or you could share ours, whatever, and access to anywhere in the house, obviously.

We have a super-sweet dog (border collie / cattle dog mix), a couple of friendly kitties and a dorky ferret. We'd welcome cats and other small animals but our dog is pretty alpha and we're not sure how another dog would work out, but we could have a doggie date and see, I guess. We're clean, laid-back, respectful artists and intellectuals, not big partiers.

Hit me up if you're interested! :3

Subject:RMRP Auction Donations
Security:Public

Calling all artists, crafters, and anyone who wants to help birds of prey!

I volunteer with the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. For the past few years, they have held a Gala Auction, as a fundraiser. (This link is about last year's Auction, as information is not posted for this year's event yet.)   While the Auction is not till February, the RMRP is accepting donations of auction items NOW.

Wildlife art seems to do very well at this event.  So, I am putting out the word to this talented community.  The RMRP is looking for WILDLIFE art and crafts.  Remember, this is NOT a furry event, so anthropomorphic pieces are not recommended.  Also, non-raptor art seems to do better (which is strange, as this is a raptor event).

For example, when I worked the Auction last year, I saw an nicely done photo of two fox kits receive a high number of bids.  Knitted blankets, beaded jewelry, books, and sporting tickets were just a handful of other items up for bids.

If you are interested in donating, you can go to RMRP.org , comment here or PM me for details.

Thanks for caring!

Greetings one and all!  This is a shout out to anyone in the wonderful State of Colorado who would like to join me for the charity walk here coming on the 20th. The 5K walk (3 miles).

http://www.swfmd.org/

I would live to have a good crowd come to the event and support the event.  If y'll register early the bill is $30 but if you do it onsite it is $35. Not a big difference.

Suitors are welcome and actually encouraged so bring it on down.  I'd also love to have those who are not in suit as well to join.  The more support we get and for the event the better.

For those of you who will be driving here is the website where it is being held : http://www.co.jefferson.co.us/fair/

For those of you who register earily the registration group I created is: Helping Paws of Colorado  (it was created on a whim. No disrespect to the group in canada)

The event schedule:Collapse )

The plan: For those of you who arn't suitors to arrive at the fairgrounds before noon to register ($35).  Those who are suitors I'd like those to arrive at my house (http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Lakewood&state=co&address=1570+South+Arbutus+Place&zipcode=80228)
Or just show up to my house after 10am and be on your best behaivor cause this is my parents house. Only drinks will be served. Food will be free at the actual fare grounds.

Please RSVP with me or comment below so I can get an idea of who'd like to come.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted before!

Who went to Rocky Mtn Fur Con? What did you do? Did you stay all three days or just a few? What was your favorite part? Your worst?

C'mon, let's answer all these questions and get some blood flowing through this community again!  Add anything else that you would like as well (your social security number, real name, et cetera).

Personally, I went only on Saturday and I totally regret not having enough money or free time to attend all weekend.  I got a print from Blotch, my mate Kudzu got a tee, and we both got con badges from Kite Wanderlust.  We mostly just hung out and didn't socialize much since Kudzu was running on no sleep or food.

And, if you haven't seen, we're kind of a big deal now.  Big deal right here, furs!
Westword: LinkCollapse )
The Denver Post:LinkCollapse )  (My mate is on the far left with the blue shirt)
A short video: LinkCollapse )
CBS4: LinkCollapse )Complete crap: LinkCollapse ) (push the next button in the corner to roll your eyes even more. He also need to learn how to spell 'anthropomorphic')
However, he took a ton of pictures: LinkCollapse )

Anyway, there you go!

Now, talk about RMFC!

Subject:Passing through Denver August 14th
Security:Public

Hello everyone,

My name is Silent Wolf, and I will be moving to Seattle, WA in just a few weeks. I am posting here today to see if anyone is interested in either offering up crash space, or maybe meeting up for food or drinks when I pass through Denver.

I will only be spending one night in Denver as I pass through on my trip. If anyone is willing to offer up crash space for a clean, and responsible wolf, I will happily pay for dinner or the like for the trouble.

And on the converse, if no one wants to offer crash space, I will be getting a hotel in downtown Denver for the night, and I am interested in checking out the city that night, likely with dinner and then a bar. So if anyone might be interested in meeting up for a few drinks, and maybe showing me around or just hanging out, I would be interested.

If you can offer crash space or want to hang out, please feel free to contact me through any of the means below:

AIM: predator99c
YIM: silentwulf59
or LJ note.

Thanks for looking, and have a cool summer!
